The red carpet will roll out in Indianapolis this weekend as celebrities from around the world arrive in Indianapolis for a number of events surrounding the 90th running of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race.

Three entertainment personalities expected to attend are also co-owners of IRL IndyCar Series teams: actor Patrick Dempsey, star of “Grey’s Anatomy” and a co-owner of Vision Racing; David Letterman, host of “The Late Show with David Letterman” and co-owner of Rahal Letterman Racing; and NBA superstar Carmelo Anthony, co-owner of Carmelo Hemelgarn Racing.

The celebrities will attend the race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, scheduled to start at 1 p.m. (ET) Sunday, May 25. Many of the stars will walk the red carpet in the Pagoda Plaza starting at 10 a.m. and take celebrity Pace Car laps around the famed 2.5-mile IMS oval starting at approximately 11:45 a.m.
Carlos Diaz, a correspondent for the popular entertainment magazine show "Extra," will be the master of ceremonies on the red carpet.
Headlining the list of celebrities are two recent "Dancing with the Stars" winners: Julianne Hough and Kristi Yamaguchi.
Hough, a professional ballroom dancer who has won the "Dancing with the Stars" twice - most recently with two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves last fall, will sing the national anthem before the start of the race. Her debut country music album, "Julianne Hough," was released this month.
Yamaguchi was named "Dancing with the Stars" season six champion May 20. 1992 Olympic figure skating gold medalist Yamaguchi will serve as honorary starter for the "500," waving the green flag to send the 33-car Indianapolis 500 field into action. Yamaguchi is the first female honorary starter in Indianapolis 500 history.
Many of the celebrities in Indianapolis for race weekend will attend or participate in community events such as the IPL 500 Festival Parade starting at noon Saturday, May 24 in downtown Indianapolis and the Regions 500 Festival Snakepit Ball at 6 p.m. that day at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in downtown Indianapolis. |

WILLIAM FICHTNER (Actor): "This is my third Indianapolis 500 in a row. The Speedway speaks for itself; there's only one. I'm a huge IndyCar fan, and I couldn't be happier that the two series are back together. I look forward to the next year when everybody gets used to the Champ Car guys getting back into these cars, but it really makes it special to be here this year. I love all motorsports, from NHRA and NASCAR, but I love IndyCar racing. To come here to the Speedway today, it's just the Holy Grail, and it doesn't get any better than this. My wife said to me this year, 'Are you really going back there this year?' I said: 'Don't go there honey. That's a dark and lonely road. You bet I'm going back again.'"

Témoignage d'un homme qui a croisé William:

Im not going to post where he was headed because his mother was on the
plane. He was waiting at the terminal with his mother to board the
airplane. His mom is in a wheel chair so I think he was spending time
with her before she left and he seemed to be very down to earth. One
person that I saw went up to hem and asked him for his autograph, but
I didn't want to bother him in such a public place. He seemed really
nice and was being very funny with his mother, which is really cool
since he is such a popular actor. I kind of regret not telling him how
much my wife and I enjoy his work, but I got to personally tell his
mother that on the airplane before we took off. I did meet him once
before on the set of CONTACT which I was an extra in filming in
Victorville CA around 1997. He was very polite and a very good
rolemodel for the newer actors up and coming. If Mr. Fichtner reads
this, thank you for all your hard work and for entertaining us.
